Cruise Ship & Island Travel Gear & Advice - http://goo.gl/wCdIV9 This is how to walk from the St. Thomas cruise ship port to downtown Charlotte Amalie. Charlotte Amalie is the best place to buy duty-free watches, jewelry and souvenirs in St. Thomas. It's a safe and easy walk from the cruise ship terminal in St. Thomas. Please note that all shops in Charlotte Amalie close by 6 PM during the week and sometimes at 2 PM on weekends. Avoid Charlotte Amalie after the shops close, as it could be mildly unsafe. I've explored both St. Thomas and St. John tip-to-tip and have never encountered any issues with crime though. I hope that you enjoy this video and please share this video with others. Filmed with Panasonic HC-V100M camera in 1080P HD.

Arrival at 7:30AM St Thomas WICO Dock first cruise ship since 2 Category 5 Hurricanes hit the Virgin Islands. Tourism is #1 industry here. Thousands have lost jobs because all resorts closed; others because retail stores destroyed. A ray of hope as the 1st cruise ship of what is left of "the 2017-2018 Season" enters Charlotte Amalie Harbor St Thomas Friday Nov 3, 2017.

It was also the most intense Atlantic hurricane to strike the United States since Katrina in 2005, and the first major hurricane to make landfall in Florida since Wilma in 2005. The ninth named storm, fourth hurricane, and second major hurricane of the 2017 Atlantic hurricane season, Irma caused widespread and catastrophic damage throughout its long lifetime, particularly in parts of the nor...

This is the VIDEO we shot during week 2 of our family trip to St. Thomas. We spent time in Charlotte Amalie and Saphire Beach. Had fun with the Iguanas and saw the weather change a little as Hurricane Isaac was approaching.
Once holding mainly rum and spices, the waterfront's restored 17th and 18th century warehouses are filled with shops offering merchandise of every kind. Shopping ranges from flea market type booths to upscale world class shops in weather controlled malls. One of the specialties of this duty free port is hand blown glass decorated in splendid island motifs.
Charlotte Amalie, located on St. Thomas, is the capital and largest city of the U.S. Virgin Islands, founded in 1666 as Taphus (meaning "beer houses" or "beer halls"). In 1691, the town was renamed to Amalienborg (in English Charlotte Amalie) after Charlotte Amalie of Hesse-Kassel (1650–1714), queen consort to King Christian V of Denmark. It contains a deep-water harbor that was once a haven for pirates and is now one of the busiest port of call for cruise ships in the Caribbean, with about 1.5 million cruise ship passengers landing there in 2004. Protected by Hassel Island, the harbor has docking and fueling facilities, machine shops, and shipyards and was a U.S. submarine base until 1966. The town has been inhabited for centuries. When Christopher Columbus came here in 1493, the area was...
